Lake Trip!

Hello everyone!
Finally having some good weather here and the lake is a beautiful 36 degrees so those fish are starting to move on up! I’m going to be going with a buddy of mine and we are going to try many different ways to see if we can rip some lips!
Most likely I am going to go with a swimbait or chatter bait. If those don’t work a jig should be heavy enough to sink to the bottom and get a bottom feeder, most likely a catfish. We will be fishing from a dam which is a perfect spot to be for them due to the sudden decline/incline. At the lake we are going to the decline is a staggering 45 foot drop about 15-20 out so we are guaranteed to hopefully have some action.
Normally at this lake in the summer you can catch pretty easily some catfish or bass (small/large mouth) from the dam, but my preference is to take my kayak out and come at them from a different angle. Something I have learned from these past few years is that presentation is KEY! It’s not natural for bait fish or any other presentation of a creature to move to the shore, go up the river etc. So with a boat/kayak you can approach them from a more natural angle and that drastically increases your odds of catching a fish!
Anyway, enough rambling about that! Update for the trip will be posted the night of Sunday, February 25th and I am hoping to catch something! I’ve been skunked out all winter trying my hand at cold weather fishing and so far, hasn’t worked out. But that’s okay! It’s all about getting out there, trying different tactics and seeing what works/doesn’t work.
I hope you have a great day and I will see you on the next update!
Lines tight!
